Welcome to the Tipton County Historical Society's
6-Generation Family Tree Project
Instructions for filling in form,
how to submit it, and deadlines. We invite all current residents, whether they have had Tipton County ancestors or not, to fill out a tree and participate in our legacy project. You are your family's Tipton connection, and we want your family tree. To the right, you will find a button to access a PDF Worksheet that you can fill out. Type in your name, address, and the name of your first ancestor in Tipton County, along with the approximate year that person arrived in the county. ***Be sure to sign this form in the upper right-hand corner, giving us permission to publish your family tree. This is VERY IMPORTANT because if you do not sign, we can not publish your tree.*** The family trees will be bound into a hardback book for current for future generations to use in their genealogical research. The books also may be sold, so you may not want to list the birth year of living people you include on your tree. In those cases, listing only their month and day of their birth is fine. This worksheet is 2 pages, maternal & paternal, so be sure to fill out both pages. Start with the Paternal page with number one. This will be you. Fill in your information for #1. Then #2 will be your father, #4 his father (your paternal grandfather), #6 his father, (your paternal great-grandfather), and so on. Males will be put in the even numbers, and females will have odd numbers. Your paternal grandmother will be #5. Then her father (your grandfather), will be #10, and his father (your great grandfather) will be #20, and so on. Then on the maternal tab, your mother will be #3, and your maternal grandfather #6, and his father (your maternal great grandfather) will be #12, and his father, (your maternal 2nd great) will be #24, and so on. We hope you will participate in our legacy project and look forward to producing an amazing book, thanks to your collaboration.
